Music: Mi - Aishiteru

On our second last day at Australia,

we went to Snowy Hydro.

After that,

we got up to the bus to go to our final destination in Australia, Sydney!

On the night at Sydney,

We had our dinner at Katsuri restaurant.

Ahhhh!!!

Finally!!!

Asian Dishes!~

Rice, onion omelet, vegetables and meat, cury chickent and rendang!

Took photos and shared jokes with the teachers and friends.

I love the toilet at the restarunt!

It has a sensor touch flushing system and classical music played when we entered the toilet.

One of the waiter is Japanese.

At first he thought that I am also Japanese.

Hah hah : D

We got to do some shopping for chocolates and souvenirs.

There were a lot of places to shop!

There is a Kinokuniya shop in !!! (●´Д`●)

After shopping,

We also took the Monorail Train which passed by eight places in Sydney.

We rested at Sydney’s dormitory.  (・ω・)

There were many other students staying at there too.

Most of them are University students.

Some of the dormitory was in a shape of a train.

The next day morning,

our bus driver gave us a little tour in Sydney and also drove us to see and take photos of the Sydney Habour Bridge and Sydney Opera House and with friends.

Scenaries of Sydney Habour Bridge and Sydney Opera House are really spectacular. ❤❤❤

We also passed by Sydney's tallest structure, Sydney Tower.

After that,

it was time to go the airport to take our flight back to Singapore.

During the flight,

I watched Bridge to Terabithia and an Korean movie.

Both movies are touching. (T_T)

There's even Arashi, WaT songs and Letters from Iwo Jima to listen and watch. ❤

I had an exciting, wonderful and memorable time in Australia.

I also learnt lots of things,

been through many new experiences,

Music: Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder

Canberra~~~~~

We went to War Memorial.

My group’s guide, Tom brought us to different areas of the museum.

He told us more facts about the two major world war;

World War I and II in detail and showed us galleries of war uniforms, badges, weapons and shields, machineries, war artifacts and elaborated more.

We also get to watch some historical videos.

I gained further understanding of the war histories of the two World Wars!

(σ*ゝω・)σ

Later on,

We went to of to learn more about the history of Australia.

Australia has really many interesting histories and facts,

such as the big laundry stand which Australian kids like to swing on it, insects and animal species of and the Aboriginal people.

After that,

we got up to the coach and drove towards the motel and check in to our rooms.

The motel’s room was really cozy and I liked it!

We had our dinner at the motel’s restaurant.

Our dinner at the motel’s restaurant was nice but

I really missed Asian’s dishes. (T_T)

I ate so much fish and chips, beef, sausages, corn and peas in Australia!

I had a high fever on that day. (T_T)

After that, we got our rest.

My room mates and I could not sleep and therefore we watched some television programs before we went to bed.

Deal or no deal and Mean Girls : D

The next day,

We went to the nearby National Capital Exhibition Centre to learn more about the decision that made Canberra, Australia’s capital city.

We also watched a video on how the architects and government started designing, building and establishing .

I felt that is a nice, quiet and peaceful place.

Next, we went to the Parliament House.

Our guild showed and introduced to us to the different areas of the Parliament House.

She brought us the Queen’s Terrace, where we were to see a life-sized statue of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who opened the Parliament House on 9 May 1988.

She also brought us to look at some artworks, portraits of the members of parliament, Senate and House of Representatives.

After that,

we went back to the motel to have dinner and rest for the day.

That night at the motel was the best!!!

My friends and I gossiped, chat and played truth and dare.

It was really fun! ❤

The best night! (´∀`☆)

After that,

we stayed up late till 2 plus.

Lynn, Heather, Yan Ting and I shared and slept at a Queen sized and Melissa slept above us.

My SL Australia Study Visit : Day 3~4 - Birrigai & Australian Outback (6-7th of June 2007)

Music: Lead – Drive Alive

At Birrigai, the temperature was the coldest. ☆

At about 1~2 Degrees Celsius. 寒い!!!

There were also wild Kangaroos bouncing around.

We stayed in bunks and had dinner in the canteen.

At the canteen,

we noticed that there lower primary Australian students were also having dinner with us.

They were all really cute and well-behaved.

きゃあ!とてもかわいいです!(´∀`*)

かおわあかいに~

I waved to one boy and three of his friends and he kept laughing and looking back at us.

Hah hah : D うわ!かわいい!!!

After our dinner,

we went to the theatre room to watch a touching Australian film based on a true story called the Rabbit Proof Fence.

This film is truly touching and it has also taught me many life-learning points that I can learn and imply from.

After our reflection,

we went back to the canteen to have some muffins and hot chocolate drinks before we slept. ❤

The next day,

our guild has brought and shown us some indigenous hunting weapons and items such as boomerangs and knifes which are all made from various types of wood and different types of paintings on it.

Then he led us on our hiking trip at the Australia Outback.

Really cold and windy ~

I wore seven tops, one sweater and winter jacket and two long pants.

(σ*ゝω・)σ

There are some steep slope and Kangaroos’ droppings everywhere.

Firstly,

our guide brought us to look at the Birrigai Rockshelter at the Australian Outback.

This rockshelter is really old and scientists found pieces of stone, bone, shell and charcoal left by the Aboriginal people who camped in this shelter at least 21,000 years ago. This rockshelter has proven that the Aboriginal people had camped on it and lived through the Ice Age.

We attempted to crawl through the cave to the other side and continued to walk a few distance before reaching the upper part of the Australian Outback.

The space to crawl out of the cave was really, really small.

Hah hah : D

The sceneries were beautiful and spectacular, and the air was refreshing. I took many photos of the mountainous sceneries and photos with my friends.

I also got a chance to snap some photos of Kangaroos and Emus.

The Kangaroos and Emus were afraid of us and outsiders and started running away when we were near them.

We also saw some cows.

We continued our hike till we reached our destination, the Australian Outback centre!

We watched a cool performance by an Aboriginal man who was playing an indigenous wind instrument called the Didgeridoo.

After watching the performance,

we got some time to shop at the souvenir shop.

Bought some souvenirs for my family and friends and it was time to head back to Birrigai centre.

While we were having our lunch at the canteen,

some Emus were feeding on the grass outside.

Chance to snap some closeup photos of emus.

Heh heh : D

After our lunch,

we waved goodbye to the cute lower primary Australian students and our guide.

We took a group photo at the entrance of Birrigai centre together with our guide and we were off to Canberra! ☆

Music: Lead – Baby Cuz U

The next day,

we went to Melbourne High School for a school exchange in the morning.

When we arrived at Melbourne High,

we were arranged into groups and I was grouped with Yan Ting, Heather, Lynn and Lestina; and my group’s facilitators were Yuji and Scott.

Both facilitators introduced more about their school and brought us to look around at the school.

Melbourne High allows their students to have a choice to select their own subjects except that English is compulsory.

Also,

the school has an interesting tradition called the Milk Run whereby the students had to race with each other around the school and when they got exhausted, they would have to drink bottles of milk and run again.

During different seasons,

they have different sets of uniform to wear.

The school has music, art and sports lessons.

The music students can borrow many musical instruments for their lessons and the sports students can book their sessions in the gym, courts, fields, swimming complex in the school.

The swimming complex in the school is also used by the Olympics competitors. すごいね!

We attended to Yuji’s Mathematics and Japanese lessons.

I had a great experience! ♪

During lunch time, once again, we had Subway for lunch!

(Chicken and Vegetarian this time round!)

We also exchanged words, took some group photos and play games with our facilitators and other students from Melbourne High.

Later on,

we went to their school hall and all the facilitators who were from Chorale played and sang for us various songs. 楽しいかた~

Next off, we went to Philip Island!

Ahhhhhh!!!

I had been looking forward for this. : D

It was extremely chilly in there~ (>_<)

I was so excited to see the Koalas!

Most of the Koalas were spending their time on the tree.

Hah hah : D

At the park, I also learnt a lot more about Koalas.

Heh heh : D

We left Koalas’ Park quickly and we went to Philip Island’s Penguins’ Parade.

We were at the Penguins Information Centre first to know more about the Penguins then, it was about time to watch the Penguins’ Parade.

The Penguins of Philip Island are the smallest species of the Penguins and

they have been the residence of for over a thousand of years.

When the sky has gotten dark,

the Penguins started to return from their hunt in the sea to their own burrows.

They are usually in groups and when they reached the shore,

they waited for everyone in the group to reach the shore first,

before heading back to their burrows.

There was one Penguin which kept going back to the sea after its efforts on getting to the shore.

At first, I thought that it got lost but it turned out that it arrived much earlier at the shore than its other group mates. Later on, its group mates started to arrive and they waited and looked for all of their group mates before heading back to their burrows.

The penguins are あぁぁぁ!めちゃかわいい!❤ ❤ ❤ (●´Д`●)

We had dinner at the restaurant and shopped for souvenirs.

Philip Island! 最高だ!

Back in the hotel, we got to eat Krispy Kreme’s doughnuts which Nisa’s aunt has bought for us.

The doughnut tastes so good! うまい!

After eating, some of us went to the nearby seven-eleven store to buy some snacks to eat.

It was our last night staying in . ~ (T_T)

Called back home too ~

I missed my family!!! : D

Not feeling well on that day too. (>_<)

At night, Lynn, Heather and Yan Ting came to my hotel room to chat. : D

Veri fun! ❤

Wardah went to the computer room with her friends.

After that,

Lynn and Heather went back to their rooms to sleep but Yan Ting stayed up with me. ~

ありがと!

Actually,

we planned not to sleep at all as we decided to have our rest in the next day’s ten hours bus trip to Birrigai and Canberra instead.

Then we watched the television programs,

(MTV and news to see the temperature for Canberra– 1~2 Degrees Celsius!) and chat.

It was veri fun!

Laughed throughout the night. : D

But in the end,

やぱりだめだ!

I cannot take it and slept around 4 plus.

Hah hah : D

My SL Australia Study Visit : Day 1 - Melbourne (4 - 5th of June 2007)

  • Jul 8, 2007
  • Post a comment

Music: Arashi – TIME

The student Leader study visit to Australia was a valuable, fun and enjoyable experience for me.

It was my first visit to Australia and the flight to Melbourne was eight hours!

I sat with Yan Ting and Pei Yun on the plane.

Played Pokemon and watched Night in the Museum on the plane.

Heh heh : D

It was really fun. ~

Yan Ting and I didn't sleep at all on the plane.

We cannot get to sleep! (vampiers)

Hah hah : D

By the time we really felt like sleeping,

it's time for our breakfasts. (T_T)

When we reached,

my friends and I saw smoke coming out when we talked or breathe out.

We all felt very excited. Hah hah : D

After that,

we took a nine hours bus trip down to the legendary; the Twelve Apostles at Port Campbell Park.

During the bus trip at the country side of Melbourne,

I saw cables and the road is much wider compared to Singapore’s road.

There are also many wide grass fields and farm animals.

The houses there have chimneys and are mainly one or two stories high for each residence. There was one point in time,

when reaching near our destination; we are able to see a spectacular view of the wide ocean.

本当にきれいな~

It was extremely cold! 寒い!

I snapped a lot of breath-taking sights of the Twelve Apostles, rock formation and the coast on my camera.

Unfortunately,

after a while,

the weather started to pour and all of us had to head back quickly to the bus.

Then,

our bus driver drove us to Shipwreck Coast.

It is where a tragic incident occurred of Loch Ard, an English ship which was heading for shipwrecked at the due to thick mist in 1878. Only two out of fifty-four people on board the Loch Ard survived..

We had lunch at Port Campbell's fast food restaurant.

There were a few sea gulls outside the restaurant.

The weather was very cold until the raindrops on the grass had turned into ice!

After that, we checked in to Explorer’s Hotel in the city of and I was grouped up with Wardah.

We had Subway for dinner (Meatball!) and walked around the night streets of Melbourne.

Most of the shops were closed.(T_T)

One of the places that we went in was Hard Rock Café.

I could not get to sleep at all during the first night at Melbourne. (>_<)

Hah hah : D
